Amsterdam financial centre

When asked, André Veltman, Manager International Desk from ABN AMRO Bank Amsterdam has little doubt about Amsterdam becoming more and more one of the most important financial centres in Europe. "With a financial history dating back to 1602 when the Dutch East India Company became the world's first traded stock, the Amsterdam Stock Exchange now ranking number 10 worldwide, merged with the Amsterdam Options Exchange early in 1997 to form the Amsterdam Exchanges (AEX)."

Apart from Dutch Central Bank being located in Amsterdam, the head office of the ABN AMRO Bank N.V., the largest commercial bank in The Netherlands, is also located in the country's capital.

My department regularly welcomes potential investors from abroad (irrespective their size) and offers those companies a full range of banking services. Practical help with regard to starting up a business is given as well. We are also involved in informing our clients about the implications of euro (starting date: 1st January 1999). Together with our Euro-desk, we give foreign investors complete advice.
